Our meetings are open to members of AIMS and to those interested in Classical reception from around the globe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are committed to providing a safe, productive, and welcoming environment for all who participate in our meetings. All participants, including but not limited to attendees, speakers, volunteers, exhibitors, AIMS staff, service providers, and others present at the meeting, are expected to abide by this AIMS Code of Conduct at Meetings. This Code applies to all AIMS meetings, including those held jointly with other organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-background has-cyan-bluish-gray-background-color has-cyan-bluish-gray-color is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">EXPECTED BEHAVIOR<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Treating all participants with respect and consideration.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Polite and courteous communication, critiquing ideas rather than individuals.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Mindfulness of surroundings and fellow participants.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Notifying AIMS officers of dangerous situations or someone in distress.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Respect for the rules, policies, and laws of the meeting venue and location.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-background has-black-background-color has-black-color is-style-dots\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Physical or verbal abuse of any participants or others present at the meeting venue.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>Ad hominem<\/em> attacks of any kind.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Unwarranted disruption of talks, presentations, meetings, or exhibitions.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Examples of unacceptable behavior include but are not limited to: pejorative verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, race, religion, national origin, disability, or physical appearance; the inappropriate use of nudity and\/or sexual images, as well as sexual harassment of any kind; physical threats or stalking.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Sharing the Zoom session links, meeting IDs, and\/or passcodes with anyone, even if they have registered for the conference, is prohibited. If you have misplaced your session information, <a href=\"http:\/\/classics.domains.skidmore.edu\/aims\/contact\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"21\">contact the AIMS Secretary-Treasurer<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Recording still images, video, or audio of individuals, whether in their presentation or in any other venue of the conference, without the individual\u2019s and the organization\u2019s explicit permission is expressly forbidden. (Note, however, that AIMS events may be recorded by officers or their designees and the recordings archived online.)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-background has-black-background-color has-black-color is-style-dots\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">CONSEQUENCES<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Anyone requested to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>AIMS officers and security officers acting on behalf of AIMS or the meeting venue may remove from the meeting, without warning or refund, any person who engages in unacceptable behavior.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>AIMS reserves the right to prohibit attendance at any future meeting.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-background has-black-background-color has-black-color is-style-dots\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">REPORTING UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If you are the subject of unacceptable behavior or have witnessed any such behavior, please immediately notify a AIMS officer.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Unacceptable behavior can be reported to any AIMS officer on-site or at any time, during or after the meeting, by e-mailing the AIMS President (classicsonscreen@gmail.com), Vice President (dcurley@skidmore.edu) or Secretary-Treasurer (<a href=\"mailto:staims@antiquityinmediastudies.org\">staims@antiquityinmediastudies.org<\/a>).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Anyone experiencing or witnessing behavior that constitutes an immediate or serious threat to public safety should without delay contact local security or law enforcement.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-dots\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Approved by the AIMS Executive Committee on December 1, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><em>(This document is adapted from the <a href=\"https:\/\/camws.org\/codeofconduct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Classical Association for the Middle, West, and South\u2019s Code of Conduct<\/a> for their meetings.)<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Antiquity in Media Studies (AIMS) is an international organization whose mission is to support and advance Classical reception studies.
