Take notes as you see fit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-background has-black-background-color has-black-color is-style-dots\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">READING<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>&#8220;What about Animation?&#8221; <em>LAM<\/em> Chapter 3 (&#8220;Types of Movies&#8221;), pp. 106\u20139.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This section will both gather up our thread about animation from our viewing of <em>Mythopolis<\/em> last Thursday and provide further context for Harryhausen&#8217;s special effects in <em>Clash<\/em> &#8217;81. It&#8217;s up to you whether you want to read these pages before you watch the movie, or afterward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>&#8220;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.skidmore.edu\/~dcurley\/lit-campus-only\/secondary\/Film\/Harryhausen%20and%20Dalton%202004%2011.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">In the Lap of the Gods<\/a>,&#8221; aka Ray Harryhausen&#8217;s memoir, <em>An Animated Life<\/em>, Chapter 11 (Billboard Books, 2004).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Read this memoir after you watch the movie (not before). <em>Clash<\/em> &#8217;81 was Harryhausen&#8217;s last film, so the chapter not only details the behind-the-scenes work on that project, but also caps his career. As you read, reflect on how you feel about the movie with this memoir in mind, as opposed to how you felt while watching it.
