No viewing for today, only reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">READING<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ogden, Daniel. 2008. &#8220;Medusa and the Gorgons.&#8221; <em>Perseus<\/em> (chapter 3), <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><\/span>34\u201366. London and New York: Routledge.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;ve had a chance to discuss Perseus in some detail. Ogden&#8217;s chapter will start our conversation on Perseus&#8217; arch-nemesis.<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Chapman, David. 2002. &#8220;In the Beginning&#8230;&#8221; <em>Retro Stud: Muscle Movie Posters from around the World<\/em> (chapter 1), 4\u201337. Portland, OR: Collectors Press.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Chapman, through a bright and breezy survey of classic movie posters, will introduce us to <em>peplum<\/em>, the movie genre in which we most often find Hercules and other Greco-Roman heroes. Put it this way: All <em>peplums <\/em>are sword-and-sandal movies, but not all sword-and-sandal movies are <em>peplum<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-background has-black-background-color has-black-color is-style-dots\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>In class we&#8217;ll survey visual representations of Medusa and her fellow Gorgons from antiquity to modernity.
